Can I only rent or buy three or can I buy three and rent three?

I do not understand your questions, but you can rent and buy as many properties as you want for the amount of money you have. And the difference is that you can teardown buildings and edit the whole plot when you own something but when renting you can only edit the area you rented and certain things you do to the rented area can be considered grieving.
