I have to plead ignorance on how the school actually works, but in my time on the server I haven't felt any inclination to use the school or to become a teacher besides pure roleplay purposes. Hence, my suggestion to increase the actual use of the school and the value of the teacher job:

Allow teachers to dispense XP, whether through bottles, flasks, or a plugin. A teacher would hold class, reward XP sparingly throughout for good behavior, correct answers, etc. A larger but more rare dispensation could occur after weekly exams, with XP correlating to test scores.
This would provide motivation for people to seek education instead of settling for joining into the labor force. Another thing it would do is increase the demand for teachers, as they would actually have students to teach. Now that job goes from almost worthless (Money/influence-wise) to a profession that actually matters in the mechanics of the server, as they would provide something tangible in the form of XP.

Obviously, the major con of this could be potential abuse. True, teachers could exploit the mechanic by feeding XP to people. But that's part of the process of applying and being screened for a teacher position in the first place. Additional supervision would come from the Principle, Vice Principle, etc. Monitors or fellow Teachers could even be hired for random classroom checks to ensure teaching remains ethical.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions? Just trying to think of how to make a well-rounded, diverse experience for the players.

This is quite similar to how school used to be run. A few months ago, school was held on a near-daily basis, and teachers taught one of many subjects - SlimeFun, basic math, reading, cooking with SlimeFun, and other stuff like that. The teachers would ask questions and whoever "raised their hand" and answered first was awarded $50 to $100. People actually learned stuff at the school, so I think it'd be a good idea to hire a new principal/vice principal and start having school again (and/or the college idea).
