Add a plugin that removes items on the floor every 30min and makes an announcement before.
This could reduce a lot of lag because items dont despawn unless a player is near them for a few minutes

We actually had that. And it didn't help at all only had bug reports as player trades were interviened with.

Also if a player isn't neirby items they can't cause lagg as they are no rendered.

But still feel motivated to keep suggesting suggestions! (pun intented)
As they can improve the server or inspire another player to suggest an even better suggestion!

It might not cause lag for us but may cause freezes in the server

Possible reasons would be
The server could be running out of ram space.
If you live too far away from the server, you likely wont have as good connection to those closer to it for example me my max is usually 4 bars.
Lots of really old useless plugins lying around. I dont have the complete lost of plugins but some which are not on use could possibly be taken away for the mean time like /comapny while its not on use atm, idrk if its being developed rn but its just an example. If some old lying around plugin could possibly be causing it that might be it.
Possibly limit the version of minecraft you can play in for example limit it to 1.12-1.12.2, if you allow too much i think it may cause some lag due to different versions being used.
Or the most common problem, too much entities, this includes Armor Stands, Animals etc... and yes those really stupid parrots and other animals just sitting in warp wild may cause part of it. And most especially slimefun can cause lag as it uses a lot of entities. That or the servers ram cant handle that much entities.

The servers tps should also be running somewher roughly around 20 ticks per second and ofc this occurs when players or animals move or even mobs. And some stuff most commonly know to cause lag, redstone. As well as crops perhaps.

I agreeee 100% on removing the parrots and other pets at /warp wild and other places like shop and bank; they have been there forever, their owners haven’t come back to claim them, and we can’t do anything to kill them soo.. yeah. remove them!:)

Eeeh no don't lol. They are all there because you lose them in wild and they can't be dropped in your house
So male it that parrots can drop in your regions and problem solved.

Good points, but I think the main thing you mentioned are armor stands. Red stone is barely used on this server, and I’m sure there is protection against lag machines. Slimefun uses armor stands for a ton of placeable blocks, which might contribute to lag. But yea, a fix could be a ram upgrade or more cpu power
