Hi, I got a message at the top of the screen while I was playing on the server, and it threw me off the server. How do I update the server? Thanks in advance.

If you go to your minecraft launcher and go to launch options, then click add new, where it says version switch to to 1.12.2 and then click save. After doing so go back to the home page of the launcher click the arrow next to play and select the 1.12.2 option! 
Actually, looking at the time you sent this and you said you got a message at the top of your screen, I believe you got kicked by the daily reboot. It happens every day at 3 pm AEST and lasts 10-15 minutes ishh.
