Never gonna tell, UK
So trump15024, and afterwards me separately, came up with the idea for rentable mines. The only thing that I don't like about the current mining system is that there will always be someone that attempts to take whatever you've mined then either furiously denies it or continues to steal even after they've been warned. The fact that there is intense lag while mining is something else to wonder about, it literally happens every single time I go mining and I'd love to not have to spend 30 minutes trying to fill up my inv when it normally only takes about 5-10 minutes. This is where my (or our) idea comes in. There's 2 ways that I've thought of in which the idea could be implemented;

1. The public mine could either be massively extended or replicated 2/3 times and each player would get their own section of the public mines to mine materials in, and a barrier could be set up to ensure that no one can intrude and steal the materials that you've mined

2. Each player could get their own mini mine in a big underground building thing, say a 7x7 for each player. They could store their tools any other mining items there while they're not mining and the barrier system could still be implemented

Feedback is appreciated, the mining system seriously needs to be updated

Well miner us actually one of the best ways to make money as it is. People stealing your loot is frustrating. But you can politely send them away or (better option) use an infused magnet to pick up the loot easily.
The mine should not be extended as space is the only thing limiting the miner job. The fact that everything regenrates is great, but also very op for the job itself.

Bigger space means more people mining at the time means more people creating money, and flooding the market with this money making money worth nothing.

If mining is thag frustrating I guess you need an alternative way for making money.
Like selling items to players for a change :)

Edit:
Laggwise, go mining when not many people are on and put chuncks low.
Lagg will get better in the future (well staff promises at least) so just hold on and things will get better!

I know that at one point Leanne/staff was considering this.

Yeah the infused magnet isn't helpful when players steal stuff, it just goes straight to them

Hmm, the second idea is nice! That make for much less confusion and chaos in the mine, especially since it’s one of the most-used jobs; however, this is a roleplay server, more or less, and having a huge building underground with multiple mines just doesn’t seem.. hmmm. It’s not something that you would see in the city, although basement farms aren’t either.. I think this could be taken into consideration!

Well I mean players are selling fort 4-5 which is kinda op so people are making way more money than before just saying.

The only perk in the rentable mine i would probs see is somehow having your own chest so you don’t need to go back to shop every so often to deposit but even then id still think /warp mine should be public not really have rented areas.

Pretty good idea, but I suggest only having around 5 mines in all, that players can rent.

I was trying to see what a good plot size might be for this, and 15x15 looks pretty good (though the full cave takes up around 18x18). It's not official, but lmk if you would like to see anything added to this build (ex. furnaces, chests).

Id say to make the rent really really high cause of the amoutn you can earn is just a lot, so people will only rent when needed and what turkey said if only 5 were made then it would make one more valuable and friends could like share etc... and split the rent or whatever. I think if 5 were to be made i dont think it should just be left out there as someone can easily rent 3 or try tog et all with his friend and easily make someone pay them to unrent it for a lot, i think it should be an auction of sorts on forums if only a number were made and the top 5 bidders would get the chance to rent it, or idk maybe some way to segregate the special rentable mine properly i guess.

I think this idea has kind of gone out of control and spun its web into more ideas. Renting a mine? sure, no problem. But the rent has to be super high? One of the starting ways new players even get money is from mining itself, they should be able to afford the rent. and only five mines? you said maybe friends can share and split rent? well if there’s one thing i’ve learned from cities, it’s that people do not share. it doesn’t matter if they’re friends or not; people who want to make money are going to be prickly about they way they earn, shutting other people out and getting everything for themselves.

Bidding? How can new players bid?

Time limits? If it’s anything like the farmplots for rent, people are going to max rent and not even use the plot. even when they are inactive, they come online just to extend the rent, leaving virtually no farmplots left. Imagine how much worse it would be with mineplots.

Idk i’m not trying to criticise but looking on the more realistic side of this, it wouldn’t really be possible unless there’s some sort of miracle

Jazz i think the rentable mines would be for players who frequently mine, the regular mine would still be there, this is just an alternative for those people who really mine a lot and would outweigh the rent if a person can make an average of 180k per hour or so, then im pretty sure mining around 30mins can easily outweigh the payment of a weeks rent. Farm plots are quite dumb tbh, you can easily make your own farm beneath your house so no one actually uses farm plots besides newbies. Im talking about more experienced players who likely get bothered by people annoying them and can possibly have their own space or their idea. I merely brought up not hoarding rentable mine areas, also turkey is right if too much were made it would end up not being used and rented for no purposes whatsoever. Turkey mentioned a space of around 15x15, you and your friends dont always mine, nor will you use it 24/7its quite easy to share the plot honestly. Its one not a good place to have your house two it has a weird terrain so bad area for a storage 3 its literally for mining so not much can be used for the plot besides mining really. And yes people would actually share in my opinion if there were less you would huddle with around 3-5 of you to try to get one of the plots as around 2-3 people can mine at a time and that dosent restrict you from the regular mines which is pretty decent in dead hours of the day.

And no sharing is actually real, the only reason i actually got 2 islands was people loaned and shared me things which led me to that point, one to name a few is froz, she helped me out by letting her use her farm to be able to earn a lot to buy my first ever island in around 2 months or so.

Hm, this makes more sense. I forgot about the regular mine still exsisting. I think it’s a pretty good idea, other than people renting all of the mines out and not sharing, you never know what kind of person you’ll be dealing with.

Its been suggested for like the 3rd time but most of the old ideas were really too op to even make it possible
This one is still Op.... but who cares!

But for the rentable mines,
Maybe you can only rent them for 1 or 2 days for 25k. So that you actually use them. Also you can't extend your rent only rent it again once it expires. So yeag you can place chests. But have to clear them out beforehand otherwise poof :(
