Think of it this way, it's like cutting the shell of a pineapple off, lather it in pizza sauce, then put cheese all over it and put it in an oven, then eat it, now does this sound right! XD pineapple on pizza sounds disgusting just as pizza on pineapple sounds even more disgusting.

I like pineapple but the thought of putting it on pizza. Just imagine putting bread on a pineapple and lathering it in pizza sauce then putting melted cheese on it, disgusting

Current pizza (referred to as American Pizza) is not the original pizza which originated in Italy and consisted of flatbread, tomato puree and a variety of cheeses. This was an inexpensive dish that was often given to workers. Current pizza was developed over time and is standardized as baked or fried dough garnished with finer tomato puree and mozzarella. Since current pizza is refined overtime and is an ever changing concept, pineapple does not "belong" on pizza, but complements it like any other topping. Since my family owns a pizzeria (and yes, we are Italian), I believe Case Closed.

There is much disagreement in history between concept and ingredients, and much debate will spark up in the future with this topic. Conceptually there is an argument if China invented with the ingredients Marco Polo brought, but without precise documentation, there is no surety in that statement.
