Hey MCCities Community,

I've been playing on here for quite a while, and I've grown to really like the way the server is set up. Something about city life and having the ability to buy and improve property really clicks with me. I have a few questions & comments, some directed at staff and some just general questions. But interested in the thoughts of the community.

  • City Sprawl: I've noticed quit a few "Cities". I have no idea how these are connected or if some are even their own worlds. Is this all one big map and some of the other "cities" are just really far away? Some look like they may be on a flat land?
    • There seems to be a focus to expand away from the city core for future development. This is actually a real life, common problem with midwest cities because it's cheaper to develop on new land than to improve existing cores. Does it seem like that is happening here?
  • Navigation: Has there ever, or will there ever be a map available? I'd love to explore with some sense of direction. Even if it's a rought map or list of all the cities and how to get to them.
  • Property Ownership: It seems the auto sales need an overhaul. It's a sniper war at server restarts limiting the ability for new player to participate in property. Generally sharks snipe up these properties in the attempt to resell them for profit, which is something I enjoy doing myself but you get the "top 1%" thing happening.
    • Perhaps limit the amount of properties (5-8) a player can own so there is a concentration on quality over quantity again?

I'm curious of other people's thoughts around trying to limit sprawl of the server. The Impact is that you end up with dead cities, low occupancy rates and things like that. Those are all things that are happening right now, it appears. The current rule of allowing apartments outside of the city further fuels that and moves population outside of the city core even more (I'd say block apartment zoning entirely or start unzoning unpopular or ones in poor condition until occupancy is better).

To simulate a real city, generally you have a highly populated core (the only place apartments and towers would be) surrounded by suburbs---but we have some cities that are just dead or not even connected to the main city and honestly it confuses me. This server has been going a long time and I'm sure there's a lot of history here I don't know.

In general I'd like to see a strong focus on quality, a return of density to the urban core, and a navigational map to assist new players get around and find areas. For example, I can warp to the bank, but I have no idea how to actually walk there.

Thanks!

Well, there used to be an online map similar to Google maps but that has since been removed.
That would be dynmap, yeah. But that can be a hog on the server and a pain to manage if there are a lot of different worlds so I can see why they may have removed it.

Even if it's a one time render or a monthly render that's posted as an image with major city features outlined, that would be helpful.

I myself have a problem if theres different worlds involved cause my journeymap mod is getting mixed up with the different worlds used ex: creative, arch world, cayman

I get the idea of the plot thingy, but that wont really leave open space for new players since you will probs be able to hog usually 1-2 plots in autosale restart and if your good you can get 3 or 4 sometimes, tho people have alternate accounts which they will transfer theyre main plots to it and use thier main to hog plots. Also a lot of people already have 20 plots so its gonna be very hard to cut it to 5 or 8 or most players will resort to getting more alts lets say max cap is like 5 plos then people will use 3 alts and the main acc to manage all 20. I get your idea but people will find some other way to get out of it no matter what and what really bugs me is im affected by this.

How would that not leave open space for new players? The majority of the problem is veteran players hoarding huge amounts of property and do nothing with most of it. It spreads the city out and makes the cost of entry harder for new players. Density is good for City RPG as it leads to more purpose of the city, police force, etc.

It's probably not something that will even be implemented--and will likely upset the top 1%, but it's an observation of mine. I had a friend try to start here recently but he simply quit because the cost of entry was too high to start building property or being involved with property. You can't find reselling properties very easily and the auto sells are limited & sniped by veterans who hoard them.

Just an resale time of 2 weeks where after 2 weeks your house goes back in sold mode. This way you get an active market.

Not all veterans snipe, most of them have to legit earn money, they ars just good and consistent at it. Theres literally only 1-2 players sniping which I believe is you and WhaleThen or atleast most of the time, its not really affecting veteran players or rich players since we still need to earn hard earned money. I dont get why people dont like us players who have a lot of plots, sometimes people dont even want ti purchase them for a fair price and most of the time, I use them for tp points storage sell shops and a few for luxury purposes and i keep my first ever home i bought. The autosale sniping dosent involve majority of us since most of us dont even get to snipe anything, and we players who have lots of plots arent the "problems" we actually need to earn the money to afford these, were just consistent at it. Its pretty much saying prohibiting as from spending our money, some players like to spend their money some like to keep it in cash. The reselling page has 4 pages of plots trying to be sold, I saw a lot for a fairly good price to be honest. Not all are priced wrongly, most of you guys are just intimidated by the long pages and just look at one to two unfairly priced and judge everything on the list. Us players with more plots, us selling our plots wont solve server problems at all. Regioning more plots wont solve it either, we have lots of plots and plenty are being open to being sold. Its the mentality of the players that oh god its expensive so they decide nah I dont want to earn up for it. In real life prices go up taxes go up, people with jobs get higher salary its all the same thing just that like any other person, people are just plain lazy to look for better ways to earn money and waste their time whinning and complaining how hard it is. Its so hard to explain to some players "fair pricing" two players came up to me saying that they wanted somewhere around 30k then later changed it to 45-50k just because I had a million in my balance, and thats just for mining a dub of netherrack. I first told them 10k then 15k for a dub since netherrack is literally the equivalent to dirt just in nether form. You can find it everywhere fairly easy to brake with effiiciency 5 diamond pick and all you need is slime legs and boots and a scuba chestplate i cant remember its name but makes you immune to fire and your all set. The players told me they wanted 30k then 50k and said even 50k is too little. But of course players are lazy and dosent take a detective to check how much is a dub of netherrack in shop and I checked it and I can purchase a dub worth of netherrack for 27,700. Players overprice things cause theyre overwhelmed and jealous of those above them. They are the reason prices are increasing because people literally want instant ways to make money so they decide to ruin and mess and mash up prices and the whole economy is literally confused to even see the right and wrong in things. People judge others by richness and wealth and not by hardwork. This is the ideology I have observed by most players and it hurts to see how people observe others in the wrong way.

Sorry @CraziiTabby too lazy for paragraphs
