Suggestion: Comments on Players

Hi everyone! I have played on here for awhile, and one big conflict that I have ran into is trying to figure out if people are scamming me. I often try to help out players in chat, as I know how hard it can be to be new and surrounded by all of these players and plugins, and because of that I often have players messaging me days or weeks later because they know I am nice, asking me for something or just saying hello. Because I help so many people, I (sadly) do not remember everyone, and I just assume that I helped someone when they randomly message me. Still, though, in the back of my mind it still occurs to me that they could quite possibly be scamming me, or doing something else bad. So, I thought, why can’t we get a plugin that warns players of just that?

The /rep plugin is amazing, as it can easily show players what others are like, but many players do things without being caught. So what if there was a way to anonymously comment on a player so other players could look into them before talking? I.e., lets say I am talking to Jim and he seems pretty nice, but I haven’t seen much of him before. I type in this command, and I can see a list of anonymous ratings for him, and a short (maybe sentence long) description. I.e. “Jim is really nice and helpful ingame. Five stars.” Or, “Jim is a total jerk and a scammer. Stay away from him!” These comments can easily alert players about what others are like.

Now, I know that the anonymous thing will cause a lot of trolls, as it is anonymous, so I was thinking that an element of this plugin is that all staff can see the actual names (maybe except for on their own- or maybe only high level staff can), so if they see repeated trolls they can warn the player, and have a punishment.

In conclusion, this simple yet effective plugin could provide useful to players (especially new ones) who want to figure out who they should ask for help, and who they can trust.

I actually think that's a good idea, because even if your not new you still don't know everyone and how their like.So if this would be added it would be very easy for players to know how other players act like because they might look kind but they might be mean and like to scam

--something should probably be implemented also so you cannot comment on your own, and so you can only comment once on someones thing (though you can delete/edit it lets say once a week, to prevent spamming)

I feel like this could be easily abused tho, and if someone doesn’t like someone they could say some pretty rude anonymous stuff here, there’s not really a way to monitor these comments

Maybe players can have like an ingame bio ... like /bio set (description of what you do ingame)

then whether or not that player lives up to their bio, others can vote for or against it.
example:

PurpleTurkey's Bio: I am the #1 Police officer, and I promote everyone to cop :D
[points = -10000 ]

* new player comes along and sees that my bio is not that popular "oh this guy is lying / untrustworthy, etc

Maybe like a rating system out of 5 stars? Since that would be simple for new players to catch on. And the stars are averages of what players say, and players can change their ratings for a person once a week lets say.

Or maybe just do that you have 5 stars at start and if you scam or hack or something you lose your stars and get them back after 1 month or so. This way it can't be abused.

But I like turkeys idea too!. I just think nobody uses /repgive these days so high rep is still special.

I don't think this is a good idea. Let's just say you have beef with someone and they have a crap ton of alts, they could get all of their alts to give them a bad rating. It could also be easy to use to blackmail people, "you give me 100k or I'll get all of my alts to give you a bad rating."

This is something that can easily be abused, which is a problem.
That is why I suggested staff members be able to see who commented. So if lets say "Player" comments on how rude Player1, Player2, Player3, and Player4 are, that could mean they are abusing and staff can look at that player and do things such as check their /rep to decide if the comments should be deleted and the player should be punished.

Do you think staff has all the time in the world, if you check some minecraft markets some people sell semi access accounts for only $0.02 irl cash. People can literally just stack up on a few of those to ruin peoples rep and besides this people will use this on people that they do not like. Staff are humans too and dont have time to waste checking atleast 100 comments on each person, oh great idea why not I get a random rude sentence generator on the internet and copy paste it on a ton of people with different alts to literally annoy people, even if you catch who is doing it, its easily abusable to do it. Not to mention people have vpn and literally evade the ip check so people can ban evade and still spam. This will waste a lot of staffs time. Besides this staff also do roleplay here. It isnt just the players so, lets say for example "Staff Bob" is a sr mod who does court cases and and a few ban appeals. So lets say player 1 lost a court case obviously he would hate on the staff member and can result to conflict of interest or lets say staff bans player 1's friend so player 1 will continue to put his bad comments but you cant blame player 1 since he isnt spamming, and hes telling hiw own feeling. And in the end if someone checks his bio, he will look like a bad person for only doing his job. So much abuse and time wasted not to mention destroying peoples rep can happen here. I usually monitor scammers on the server but Its quite obvious to tell scammers, they arent really good at it. If they were good then they werent caught yet. Well I did scam a few times but of course they fell for it anyways I mean theyre fault not mine ;) . But still the main point is it can tear other peoples rep, and can waste time and also abuse can happen.
