Okay everybody, let's take a deep breath for a second here. Look, yes @Gabriel the President appoints the Governor and it needs to be filled. That can't be argued against. However, it's simply the timing and rushed nature of the appointment that's less than tactful. For two reasons:
1. In a way, it really does make it look like you don't believe in the candidate you yourself endorsed for Representative. It looks like you feel he isn't going to win, so you're sliding him into a position any way you can. Which, to be honest, is completely legal. However...
2. An appointment like Governor shouldn't happen during an election. Here's why: Say you take a vote among either a) The people or b) The officials. If you go with a popular vote, you're inevitably going to get votes that come from outside of Runnerboro, which defeats the purpose of electing a Governor to serve Runnerboro residents. Now let's say the officials vote to confirm the appointment. If this is done before the election, this would allow the current officials, who may change in a few days now, to get one last little hold on the government and possibly influence the election.
The best way to do this, because by no means am I saying Knight can't be appointed Governor or Secretary of State, is to wait until after the election. This way you allow the new legislature to approve or disapprove a Governor that will both work with them and get along with the general direction the new officials want to go. This will result in better cohesion and teamwork among the legislature, allowing for a less complicated time making/enforcing laws and a happier quality of life for those residing in Runnerboro.

I am studying the constitution of the US rn, the system could be argued flawless, the checks keep one person from abusing anything! I feel like one of the reasons I left was that you take control, things can still happen if a bill is not approved, that still is something that has happened. To my point, the president cannot appoint someone without approval of other people, and that person can still be impeached. Yes, Runnerboro uses checks and balances and here is how it works. When someone leaves a position it is the president's job to appoint someone in that position to keep the government running but must have a vote later on and approve of the president's decision. The President is the head of government in Runnerboro. I have said publicly that I feel Knight3000 would be a good north governor and I could possibly appoint him because it's my job to fill the positions you and @LavaFlake left. I have said that we will see about this after the election. You saying I have abused the rights of the president is nonsense and I can say that the checks and balances of Runnerboro have never been stronger. You were once the VP of Runnerboro and you have seen the 20 page long conversations where we introduce, debate, and vote on bills. Good luck @knight3000. Things are getting done but I would like more to get done that's why I called for this election. There are checks and balances of the president appointing someone. The presidents the head of government and its the president's job to appoint new government officials and then the whole government holds an approval vote. Eatsmith has instructed me constantly as the president to pick new officials and then have an approval vote. To your last line, I can endorse any candidate in this election I want to.

I have been wondering why @eatsmith hasn't taken this off because some of these things have been done and we cant do anything because we have no cooperation from staff on Runnerboro. If you would read all the other updates you would see what we have been doing.
We have hired many people to build the airport and try to get the region but no we cant because staff won't allow us to region because they don't like the sf trees on the north border etc. We have been planning a school, have worked out a deal with leanne to have a cayman police station on runnerboro, me and @Marie have been working on the island, we are trying to get the island in arch world, we have plans to open up a trading market with sf things, we have a market a new in Runnerboro, we have expanded the island, we have hired leanne to fix up the island and still the island wasent good enough for regions, people dont follow plots standrds, we have increased relations with cayman by communicating with staff, We do have a federal government, we have a tex system, we have tried to widen mainstreet but plots are in the way.
